A 53-year-old hypertensive male patient presented with a non-healing venous leg ulcer (VLU) on the lateral side of dorsum of the left foot, measuring 9×4×0.5 cm, characterized by an inverted wound edge, thick purulent exudate, and local infection persisting for 20 days. Following diagnosis, the patient underwent wound debridement and was treated with Theruptor Novo dressing (Healthium Medtech, India), initially changed daily, then every 5 days for 2 weeks, and weekly thereafter. After three weeks of treatment, the wound showed significant improvement, evidenced by no signs of infection, reduced size, low exudate, and healthy granulation tissue. A split skin graft (SSG) was then stapled using Trupler skin stapler (Healthium Medtech, India) leading to complete healing at the one-week follow-up. This case illustrates the efficacy of Theruptor Novo as a primary dressing for VLUs, highlighting its anti-microbial, non-adherent properties and ability to maintain a moist wound environment.

This prospective study assessed the effectiveness of the COMOC-MG modified B-Lynch suture in preventing postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) among 50 high-risk women undergoing cesarean section. Other study outcomes included hemoglobin/hematocrit reduction, success rates of additional interventions, blood loss, and hysterectomy incidence. Maternal complications were rare, with 2% of patients experiencing arrhythmia, hypotension, or pulmonary edema. Intraoperatively, 70% of patients required blood transfusions, while 88% of patients did not need any postoperative transfusions. The mean reduction in hemoglobin and hematocrit levels was 1.2 g/dl and 1.76%, respectively following cesarean section. With only 2% of patients requiring a peripartum hysterectomy and 82% of patients successfully managed with the COMOC-MG suture alone, the study demonstrated its effectiveness in preventing PPH by compressing the myometrium and occluding uterine artery branches.

Abdominal pain is the most common complaint in emergency departments, with Superior Mesenteric Vein Thrombosis (SMVT) being a rare yet severe condition primarily affecting the elderly and associated with high mortality. A retrospective study at Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, reviewed 10 SMVT cases from 2018 to 2022. The study found a predominance of male patients, most of whom had co-morbidities, including malignancies and prior surgeries. CT angiography was the primary diagnostic tool, and anticoagulation therapy was universally administered. Approximately 30% of patients required surgical intervention for bowel ischemia, involving midline laparotomy, resection of gangrenous bowel loops, and side-to-side anastomosis using GI linear cutter staplers, with fascia closure using PDSynth and skin stapling with Trupler staplers (Healthium Medtech, India). The primary endpoint of this prospective, single-blind, multicentric, two-arm, randomized (1:1) study (April 2021-April 2023) was a comparison of the proportion of subjects having sternal dehiscence within 26 weeks of the median sternotomy closure between Trusteel® (n=33) and Ethisteel® (n=34) groups. Secondary endpoints comprised of an assessment of intraoperative suture handling, the incidence of mortality and other complications of sternal closure, operative time, intensive care unit (ICU)/hospital stay, return to normal day-to-day activities and work, subject satisfaction and general well-being, and adverse events in both groups. No incidence of sternal dehiscence or other post-operative complications were recorded. A significant difference (p<0.05) in the stretch capacity of Trusteel® and Ethisteel® sutures was noted; otherwise, ease of passage, knot holding, knot security, knot tie-down smoothness, and memory of both sutures had comparable ratings. Operative time, ICU/hospital stay, and return to normal day-to-day activities and work were comparable between the groups. Trusteel® surgical steel suture is clinically equivalent to Ethisteel® surgical steel suture and is safe and effective for sternal closure following median sternotomy.

This prospective interventional study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the compression of myometrium and occlusion of uterine artery by COMOC-MG suture technique in managing atonic PPH. The study enrolled 100 pregnant women undergoing complicated caesarean or vaginal deliveries. This randomized clinico-histological study aims to compare the healing of modified flap operation when approximated with Silk suture and N-butyl cyanoacrylate bioadhesive. Thirty patients were recruited in this clinico-histological study. In Group A, surgical site was approximated by 3-0 black braided silk sutures (Trusilk, Healthium Medtech Limited) and in Group B, N-butyl cyanoacrylate bioadhesive (Epiclos) was used by driplets for flap approximation. Due to the head injury, the patient underwent radiological tests including a CT brain scan that revealed a right temporoparietal intracranial haematoma. To analyze the etiology and treatment methods for patients with epistaxis, a retrospective study was done in a tertiary care hospital in central Nepal. A total of 84 patients who had epistaxis were enrolled. The most common cause of epistaxis was found to be idiopathic (38.09%) followed by hypertension (27.38%), trauma (15.47%), and coagulopathy (8.33%). Regarding treatment methods, most (52.38%) of the patients required anterior nasal packing. Patients with bleeding disorders were packed with absorbable gelatin sponge (Abgel, Healthium Medtech Limited); the rest of the patients received conventional anterior nasal packing with ribbon gauze. Chemical cautery was sufficient to stop bleeding in 14.28% of patients while electrocautery and posterior nasal packing were performed in 2.38% and 16.66% patients, respectively. A 7-year-old male, castrated, domestic shorthair cat was presented with a plantigrade stance of the left pelvic limb. An avulsion of the lateral head of the gastrocnemius muscle was diagnosed based on clinical examination and radiographic assessment. During surgery, two bone tunnels (1.1 mm) were drilled in the lateral supracondylar tuberosity of the distal femur, and the lateral head of the gastrocnemius muscle together with the fabella were reapposed with two polyamides (0 USP Trulon, Healthium Medtech Limited) modified locking loop suture patterns. In this case report, 2 patients with uterine AVM with abnormal vaginal bleeding had a history of abortion followed by dilation and curettage. In both patients, the diagnosis of uterine AVM was established by Doppler flow ultrasonography. An absorbable gelatin sponge (AbGel, Healthium Medtech Limited) was used to treat residual shunt via embolization of the right ovarian and left uterine arteries.
